College Football Week Five Picks

Week Five offers a decent slate of games with potential for a number of upsets. Here are my picks for a few intriguing games. (Note: I won’t be picking the BC-Clemson game or any other BC games as my vast amounts of pro-BC bias could get in the way.)

West Virginia 48, Baylor 33: I’m not sold on WVU, but they should have enough firepower to get by Baylor and their porous defenses.

Texas Tech 37, Iowa State 23: Texas Tech should plow through Iowa State to get to 4-0.

Northwestern 28, Indiana 22: Indiana is getting better, Northwestern is already good.

Oklahoma State 53, Texas 27: I think Oklahoma State will win big at home and, in the process, expose over-rated Texas.

Ohio State 28, Michigan State 14: The Buckeyes have defensive issues and the Spartans have offensive issues. I think MSU’s are more severe.

Oregon State 24, Arizona 17: Arizona won’t be shut out for the second straight week, but Rich Rod doesn’t have enough on offense to get by the Beavers’ stifling defense.

Miami 31, NC State 27: The comeback ‘Canes will get another ACC win if they can keep Glennon from having a big day.

Virginia Tech 26, Cincinnatti 17: UC is one of the best teams in the Big East but I bet the Hokies are still mad about their loss to Pitt a couple of weeks ago.

Nebraska 34, Wisconsin 17: The Badgers are not as bad as they have looked at times, but a road win over a good Nebraska team would be a shock.

Wake Forest 45, Duke 38: This will likely be a shootout. Look for Wake Forest to use a lot of rushing yards to carve out a narrow victory.

Minnesota 33, Iowa 30: I see the Golden Gophers getting to 5-0 with a win over a hapless Hawkeye team.
