After a wild day of upsets here is my updated power rankings:
1.(Last weekend: 1) Alabama
The Tide had an off week.
2. (4) Oregon
Right now, it is hard to imagine Oregon losing.
3. (5) South Carolina
The Gamecocks embarrassed Georgia yesterday and will head to Baton Rouge to face LSU next weekend.
4. (7) Kansas State
K-State continues to roll.
5. (8) Florida
The Gators, who beat LSU yesterday, better be careful going into Vanderbilt next weekend.
6. (9) Notre Dame
They probably had their best performance of the season in their route of Miami.
7. (11) Oklahoma
The Sooners looked good in blowing out Texas Tech.
8. (12) West Virginia
I’m having a difficult time buying into West Virginia because of their defense, but it is clear that they have improved as a team from last year.
9. (2) LSU
The Tigers’ offense was over matched vs. Florida.
10. (10) Clemson
The Tigers had another good win against GT, but the defense needs to start playing better.
11. (13) Oregon State
That defense is the best in the Pac-12.
12. (3) Florida State
FSU has not looked great on the road.
13. (15) Ohio State
The Buckeyes only put up 63 on Nebraska.
14. (14) Mississippi State
Mississippi State has yet to notch a big win. I think they will in the next few weeks.
15. (17) USC
They looked pretty explosive against Utah.
16. (6) Georgia
The Bulldogs simply did not show up against South Carolina.
17. (20) Stanford
QB Josh Nunes was heroic in Stanford’s OT win over Arizona.
18. (21) Louisville
The Cardinals have an 11:00 ET start next week at Pitt (WTF?).
19. (22) Rutgers
Rutgers is playing great defense.
20. (25) Texas A&M
That three point loss to Florida is starting to look good.
21. (16) Texas
Texas vs. Oklahoma should be fun this year.
22. (Not Ranked) Cincinnati
The Bearcats surprisingly have one of the best defenses around. Their offense isn’t half bad either.
23. (NR) Michigan
I was NOT expecting Michigan to blow out Purdue.
24. (NR) NC State
The Wolfpack beat FSU with their defense.
25. (NR) Toledo
The Rockets are really hot at the moment.
