College Hoops Notes 2/24

A few thoughts on college basketball after another wild Saturday:

-Maryland bounced back nicely after their loss to BC. They look like an NCAA team to me.

-Villanova is off the bubble in my opinion. They now hold three wins over ranked teams and are 9-6 in Big East play. Barring a collapse, they should make it into March. With the way they are playing, I could see them making a run there.

-Georgetown looks like the team to beat in the Big East Tourney and possibly in the NCAA. The Hoyas are beyond legit title contenders and haven’t lost in over a month. They stifled Syracuse yesterday at the Carrier Dome en route to an impressive 57-46 win.

-Kansas is back on track. This time, they took care of business against TCU.

-Vanderbilt beat Mississippi State 72-31. That is all.

-Teams of the Big East: watch out for Providence in the upcoming Big East Tournament. The Friars have now won four out of their last five (including wins over ‘Nova, Cincinnati, and Notre Dame).

-Memphis beat another good team. Joe Jackson is crazy efficient. Watch out for the Tigers in March.

-I discovered that New Jersey Institute of Technology plays in the Great West Conference today. This makes sense.

-Gonzaga may be #2 when the polls come out after Miami’s loss.

-Miami fans shouldn’t freak out about the loss by the way. The loss to Wake Forest should give the talented Hurricanes some things to work on down the stretch.

-Finally, I leave you with this awesome bang-on from Harvard star Wesley Saunders:
