Saturday College Hoops Picks

Princeton closed out Harvard by a final of 58-53 in this weekend’s first big game. Many more excellent matchups are planned for Saturday. Here are my picks for what should be a great day of hoops.

Florida 78, Alabama 64: Florida has been slumping but should be able to care of Alabama at home.

Marquette 59, Notre Dame 55: Marquette is incredibly good at the Bradley Center, where they have beaten Georgetown, Pitt, and Syracuse. I think after today they will be able to add Notre Dame to that list.

Memphis 71, UCF 56: This should be a bounce back game after Memphis’ upset loss to Xavier. UCF is a good team but they probably are meeting Memphis at the wrong time.

Wichita State 74, Creighton 69: The winner takes the regular season MVC crown.

VCU 58, Butler 56: Two of the nation’s top mid-majors will face off at VCU. I have to take the Rams at home.

Syracuse 76, Louisville 68: At the Dome, I like the ‘Cuse to take down Louisville for the second time this season.

Maryland 73, Wake Forest 65: Coming off that loss to G-Tech, the Terps need to beat a Wake Forest team that is better than people realize.

Providence 75, St. John’s 70: Here are two teams trying to work themselves off the bubble. Providence has been playing great ball of late.

UCLA 83, Arizona 77: UCLA has exceeded my expectations this year. I like them to win in Pauley with ESPN’s College GameDay in town.

Miami 66, Duke 61: This much anticipated battle truly is a battle of the titans. Miami crushed Duke in Coral Gables earlier this year in front of an electric crowd. The crowd at Cameron tonight should be quite something as well. Miami has a pretty good strangle hold on the ACC regular season crown, but this is a game that could have implications in NCAA tournament seeding. I like the ‘Canes to take down Duke once again, but I would be stunned if it is as easy as last time.
