Everything is getting a little clearer, although we still have a long way to go (a week real-time) before the fun that is Selection Sunday. Harvard, Florida Gulf Coast, and Belmont are all in the tourney after a wild Saturday. Here are some notes on college hoops:
-This is a score from today: Temple beat VCU 84-76. With wins over Villanova, Syracuse, St. Louis, Umass, and now VCU, Temple has to feel very comfortable about its tournament prospects.
-Duke clobbered UNC last night and, with a strong performance in the ACC tourney, may be headed for a number one seed.
-Georgetown rebounded nicely from an upset loss earlier to Villanova by destroying Syracuse. Syracuse, which has lost four out of its last five, needs a strong performance in the Big East Tournament as much for the team’s confidence as its NCAA seeding.
-Kentucky is still alive after beating Florida yesterday!
-Miami won the regular season ACC Championship. A Championship in the tournament would mean so much more.
-Baylor reminded everyone why they were ranked 19th coming into the season by routing Kansas, but they still have work to do to get in to the NCAA Tourney.
-Princeton lost both of their games this weekend, Harvard won both of theirs. That was all Harvard needed for an Ivy League Title.
