It’s college football season once more! Here are predictions for some of the best games this week:
South Carolina 38, North Carolina 14: I don’t think UNC has the defense to give the Gamecocks much trouble. Keep an eye on Jadeveon Clowney, SC’s monster defensive end, as he takes on a suspect Tar Heel offensive line.
Utah 28, Utah State 21: It took OT to declare a winner when these teams faced last year as the Aggies got the win. I think the Utes will exact some revenge at home this time.
Ole Miss 27, Vanderbilt 17: Vandy’s at home and won their final seven of last season. Still, somehow, I’m feeling Ole Miss in this one, especially in light of the recent suspension of Commodore receiver Chris Boyd.
USC 39, Hawaii 13: USC is probably overrated at no. 24 in the AP poll. But the Rainbow Warriors are awful.
Cincinnati 28, Purdue 17: I’ve got no faith in Purdue or their defense.
Boise State 24, Washington 20: I’d be more confident in this pick if the game was in Boise, but I do think the Broncos will pull one out on the road.
Alabama 41, V-Tech 10: I think the Hokies are gonna have a bounceback season. But Alabama is, well, Alabama.
LSU 20, TCU 9: I have a tough time seeing TCU scoring much on that LSU defense.
Oklahoma State 35, Mississippi State 27: This is a somewhat concerning game for the much-hyped Cowboys, but ultimately I think their offense is just tooo good.
Northwestern 41, Cal 23: I’m thinking that Venric Mark, Kain Colter, and the Cats will light up a porous Golden Bear defense.
Georgia 38, Clemson 34: In a titanic matchup, two teams with National Title aspirations will face off. Death Valley should be electric and the QB matchup of Aaron Murray and Tajh Boyd should be tremendous. Ultimately, I like Georgia to eek out a narrow victory with the Bulldog defense managing to slow Clemson’s brilliant offense just enough.
