College Football: Week 2 Picks

Week one of the 2013 college football season was wild. Johnny Manziel was taunting people, Logan Thomas forgot how to throw a football, and FCS teams were beating FBS teams all over the place (Eastern Washington took down Oregon State, UConn fell against Towson, and McNeese State made USF look like a Division III team). Now it’s time for week two! I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it. Here are my predictions for some of the best games this week:

Cincinnati 27, Illinois 17: This is Cincinnati’s second straight game against a mediocre Big Ten opponent. They blew out Purdue last week, but I think Illinois will give them a better game.

The Northwestern-Syracuse game pits a pair of teams with nice color schemes.

The Northwestern-Syracuse game pits a pair of teams with nice color schemes.

Northwestern 30, Syracuse 24: The two best colors are orange and purple. That’s my opinion and if you disagree I hate you. As for the pick, I like that the Cats are at home and, ultimately, I think they’ve got too much offensive firepower. And I like cats.

Boston College 23, Wake Forest 17: My Eagles had a tough time against Villanova last weekend. Still, for some reason, I’m feeling good about this game. #nobias #rettigforheisman

Florida 20, Miami 17: Florida had some trouble with Toledo, but the Rockets aren’t terrible. Miami is at home, but I think the Gators staunch D will help them pull out a win.

Oregon 45, Virginia 17: I wonder how many Oregon fans will make it out to Charlottesville.

USC 33, Washingon State 30: I’m still not sold on USC. They probably shouldn’t be ranked. On the other hand, I’m really not sold on Wazzou’s defense.

I'm feeling a bounce back win for Aaron Murray and Georgia.

I’m feeling a bounce back win for Aaron Murray and Georgia.

Georgia 31, South Caroline 24: Aaron Murray didn’t throw a single touchdown pass against Clemson. I’m predicting that, at home, Murray throws a trio of TDs and the Bulldogs take down SC.

Michigan 20, Notre Dame 13: This game is gonna be awesome! Both teams looked good in blowout opening weekend victories. If Devin Gardner plays well, the Wolverines should have a great shot of getting the win at home.
