Here are my picks for some of this week’s best college football games. As always, feel free to tell me where I’m right and where I’m wrong in the comment section!
Clemson 48, NC State 23: The Wolfpack are at home and they should have an exuberant Thursday night crowd behind them, but the Tigers should still roll. I have a tough time seeing Clemson Clemson this one.
Fresno State 33, Boise State 24: The Bulldogs might not play great defense, but they sure can score (just ask Rutgers) and Boise’s offense is a work in progress. Look for the Broncos to lose away from their blue carpet.
LSU 28, Auburn 19: Last year, this one was an absolute grind. This year, Auburn’s offense is vastly improved and they have some serious playmakers in their running game. LSU also is looking good offensively, so don’t expect a total slog. It is hard to pick against LSU at home, especially with the amount of talent they have on both sides of the ball.
Florida 31, Tennessee 17: Yeah, the Gators’ offense has looked putrid, but the Vols’ defense is awful too. If Florida can’t put up some points in this one, a long season could be on the way.
Georgia Tech 41, UNC 38: Last year’s final was 68-50. These team’s don’t play much defense. I like the Jackets at home–this is a good Yellow Jackets team with a star under center in Vad Lee.
Michigan State 28, Notre Dame 20: Sparty’s offense is suspect, but I still feel like the Irish are going to go down. They definitely will if they play like they did last week against Purdue.
Stanford 28, Arizona State 17: This is the game of week in my opinion. The Sun Devils took down Wisconsin last week, with some help from the officials, and enter this week ranked 23rd. Stanford, meanwhile, sleepwalked their way through a win against Army last week. They should be wide awake on Saturday night in front of a raucous crowd at Stanford Stadium. I’m taking the Cardinal!
